A 3rd party data tracking service, WeiboReach(知微), has recently done a research on user activity of Sina Weibo. It investigated in the part of users who has more than 10 thousands followers, so-called 大V (influencial verified users). Here’s what they’ve found:
- After two years (2009 - 2010) of growth, the total number of weibo posts reached its peak in 2011 and 2012, and started to decline in later 2012.
- Based on the numbers of forwarded weibo posts, these five specified point-in-times showed explosive growth: 2011-6-26, 2013-2-4, 2011-6-20, 2013-2-5, 2013-2-8.

We can see that the user activities is close to early 2011, dropping more than 30% compare to mid-2012.
